Jellyfish

Late Autumn I was cycling along the Swan River and had a stop just behind Point Walter where my partner was doing his first kite-surf lesson to make some photos of him. As I was quickly bored with it I had a better look in the water. And at a secluded area I found this lot of jellyfish. Beautiful creatures although most people don't like them. I especially like the movement of these jellies!

Orange

On the moment the garden is green and the first Nasturtium flowers have already shown up. These eatable flowers are a beautiful color splash in the garden but also looking good in a delicious salad.

Feathers

This is Bep, one of my chickens who is already too old to give me fresh eggs, last summer she and her sister Sjaan only layed about 30 eggs and I don't expect too many this coming summer as they are four years old now. But they enjoy life and I enjoy them. Look at her feathers, they look more like hair... it's her winter coat.

Rain drops

Last week after a morning shower I went out in the garden and saw these beautifull drops on the leaves of several plants. Jewelry for leaves...

This guy was living for a while in my flower pot in the front yard a few months ago. Haven't seen him lately though...

Sundew

We saw plenty of sundew during the walk today in Kalamunda, my friend Sue and I where doing the
Piesse Gully Loop Trail, 7.5 km loop not for the faint-hearted! And we discovered quite quickly why, as it took us 11.3 km to close the loop with lots of up and downs along slippery slopes. But with magnificent views and the most crispy air under a bright blue sky.

Wattles

A few weeks back I went for a hike in Mundaring with the outdoor club and this wattle or official known as acacia, was blooming like mad. The smell of honey was in the air although it was a wintry grayish day...

Pink

This photo is taken last summer during one of our camping trips down south somewhere along a bush track. Western Australia is famous about it's wildflowers especially in spring many people come to visit the areas where they bloom. But through the year you'll find interesting specimens like this sugary beauty.

This photo is taken in the year before we migrated to Australia, in 2002, we went camping in the south of France and visited St. Tropez where this tree is, complete with love birds...

Nephila plumipes

This big spider, the "Nephila plumipes", was making a huge web in our garden this summer. It wasn't disturbed at all when I was almost touching her to make photos, as the wind was blowing the web all the time so it was hard to get a clear shot. But this one is perfect!


Half a year later, in autumn, another, smaller "Nephila plumipes", was weaving her web every evening between the trees in front of the chicken pen with the result that I regularly run into it early the next morning, face first.... But one evening, it was still light enough to make photos without the flash, I caught her weaving, look at the little hole in her back were the webbing starts, how sophisticated!

Water Art

While hiking in Mundaring we came across the dam which was not that full of water and along the dam was a funny pattern of foam. So weird, was it real foam? Or some algua? The dam is far to high to check but we spend some time seeing all kind of stuff in these figures like a cat, glasses, stick man, etc. And I've made some nice arty photos!

Autumn

North Cottesloe beach on a grey Sunday morning.
The sea is taking back the beach as it does every year. In winter the rocks under the layer of beach sand is coming free and has plenty of time to become green and mossy for a while until spring arrives with tons of sand to cover them again.
These photos are from September last year and it looks like they are there forever. Until suddenly you realise they are gone and summer has started.
