Gala's

Sunday, when we were walking along the beach in North Cottesloe there were a whole bunch of Gala's fighting for a spot on top of this light post. Not all fitted but the lucky ones are there and the rest flew to nearby pine trees.

Pelicans in the Canning River

I was cycling home along the Canning River from Maddington today and enjoyed the nice weather although I had some strong headwinds in the open spaces. There was an abundance of wildlife and wildflowers along the way. I was even attached by a Magpie, not once, but four times, he kept on coming up to my helmet, protecting it's precious babies somewhere in one of the trees I cycled along. And I bet I saw about 40 pelicans today!

Grapevine leaves

For the first time since we live here, and thats over four years in the mean time, we are getting grapes! I've replanted the grapevine to another location in the garden with more sun two years ago and finally this year it's blooming! The leaves are healthy and shiny.

Lily

A few years back I've collected a few little bulbs from the forest where there was an abundance of lilies growing along the riverbed. And they grow really wild, luckily I've planted them in the old pond in the back of the garden as they spread enormous and grow very tall. They have orange colored little flowers on long stalks. I am not sure if it's a native or an imported lily...

Stick Insect

A few weeks back this creepy crawly, the size of my hand, was almost falling down on me when I was pruning the passion fruit along the fence. He wobbled on his skinny legs when he was walking his way up the fence.

The season started!

Plant louse

The new growth on my jasmine bush is full of plant louse but not to worry as the ants already discovered this abundance of fast food, they were even chasing this little yellow ladybird out. You see the ants are particularly keen on the baby louse, one is just half born when an ant is already attacking.

Mini Mouse

When I came home this afternoon my two cats were sitting together in the garden looking at something very tiny and as soon as I saw this tiny little mouse I picked up the cats and put them inside (they normally have to go in when the sun goes down) so I would be sure that this little fluffy thing will be safe. But before I dropped him in a more convenient spot I had to make a few photos of course.

Wildflowers

It's still pretty cold, is that maybe why the flowers are covered in hairs?

Purple rain

I love the way the sun shines through this purple flower, also growing in John Forrest NP.

Pollen

Look at how the little balls of the pollen open into nice curly shapes, how sexy.

Natures flower pot

This natural flower pot is growing along the Eagle track in John Forest NP, or was it one of the side tracks of that track?

Fluff

This fluffy flower was pretty tiny and grew amongst a lot of other wildflowers as the season has started.

Along the track in John Forrest National Park are a lot of rock formations, there I saw this huge star imprinted.
