Red bandit Cicada
This cicada was sitting on my garden table. It looks like the red bandit cicada I met last month. This friendly guy really interacted with me, waved its front legs and walked to me.

Caedicia - Katydid nymph
When I was picking mulberries in our tree in the garden on Christmas day I saw this beauty between the leaves. I caught it in a jam jar to ask the insect group what it was, so it's a Caedicia, also called a common garden nymph. It's a cousin of the grasshopper and cricket. I put it back in the tree as it has plenty of leaves to munch on.

Giant grasshopper
There are so many of these giant grasshoppers in our veggie garden that I don't mind if my cat catches one, the chickens love them too. But they're very pretty beasts!
A week later I discovered a whole nest of babies on my banana tree....

Motorbike frogs
Heard a little squeak in the garden and rescued this little guy from our playful kitty. He didn't want to get loosen his grip on my finger though, feeling quite safe I guess...
The motorbike frogs have started the race again to produce a lot of new tadpoles this spring

Lacewing (Neuroptera) eggs
The first photo is taken in March this years, a nice row of lacewing eggs on our Colourbond shed. This bundle of lacewing eggs on a succulent on the veranda is taken in September.

Woolly bear caterpillar
The woolly bear caterpillar is a greedy eater, and therefore a big pooper too! On the last photo you see one in the act of pooping huge green dumps opening up its abdomen.
There are many in my garden at the moment, eating away on my leafy veggies as well as this succulents.
They turn into the black and white tiger moth.
